Trigger

A Trigger is needed for starting a measurement. This is called the Global Trigger and the most common way is the Manual trigger. When a trigger sequence is initiated (e.g. Time trigger) the instrument starts to look for the trigger condition (e.g. correct clock). A Weighting for trigger icon is shown in the status bar in the measurement pictures until the measurement is started.

Manual trigger: A push on the start button starts the trigger sequence and starts immediately if the delay time is set to 0. Otherwise it will wait the given minutes and seconds.

Time trigger: The measurement will start when the clock reaches the preset trigger time.

External trigger: The instrument may be set to trig on an external electric signal. See the description of Digital I/O lines for details.

Threshold trigger: In this case the measurement will start when reaching predefined levels.
Trigger level

Please note that more than one trigger condition (even all four) can be active at the time. When the measurement conditions are fulfilled, the instrument measures for the predefined duration or until it is paused or stopped.

Additionally, Event Triggers can be set to perform different tasks during the measurement.
