A brief introduction to measuring Sound Intensity
Calibration

After defining a surface and setting up the measurement parameters, we have all things set up correctly. Make sure you have calibrated the instrument before making a measurement:

Calibration

We will assume for the rest of the text that the ISO 9614-2 standard is selected.

Navigate to a segment

To start off, step out of the menu system. You will then see the Total Scope, illustrating the measurement surface. No data should be present on the surface, i.e. no red or green frames or numbers. If there is some data, press the "X" on hte keyboard and follow the instructions to make a new project.

To navigate around in the project, use double-taps on a surface or segment to step into a lower level, and the Back softbutton to navigate up towards to the Total scope.

Now, to start measuring, we will need to go to a segment. Double-tap the Front surface, then segment R1C1 (row 1, column 1).

Making a measurement

You are now in Idle View, showing the current Sound Intensity and Sound Pressure. The upper left text shows you that you are in surface "Front", segment "R1C1-H". This means that you will be measuring the horizontal scan of the segment. Tap Start to begin measuring, and Stop to finish.

Now you are presented with the result. You can move the cursor around to see the different values and warnings. The softbuttons will ask you to either accept or decline a measurement. Press Info to get additional information for the warnings (if present). Press View to enter Advanced View. Toggle the different views using the Func key.

If Setup->Measurement->Scanning Direction is set to "Both", you will be presented with the idle view again, this time segment "R1C1-V", indicating the vertical scanning direction. Simply do the measurement once more to obtain the final result for the segment.
