Research

The R&D department collaborates closely with research institutions, standardization bodies, our distributors, and key customers/users to ensure that development is both scientifically robust and relevant for field use.

Development

Following the research and needs assessment phase, the developers initiate their projects. We have in-house expertise in hardware design, high-level programming, and embedded software development, where all development work is carried out.

Production

The production department is also located in-house. They are involved already during the development phase, producing beta instruments, and are responsible for the production and assembly of all instruments we develop and deliver.

Testing

All instruments we produce undergo thorough testing, which is also documented, before being delivered to the end customer. Quality is a top priority for us, and this process ensures that customers receive the level of performance they expect.

Marketing

We also have a small marketing department that handles everything from photography, brochure production, and trade show materials to websites, video production, advertising, and social media. In addition, we support our distributors with marketing materials as needed.

Sales

We sell our solutions directly to end customers in Norway and Sweden, as well as in countries where we do not have a distributor. We also have dedicated Key Account Managers who work closely with our distributors throughout their sales processes.

Support

We also support you if you encounter challenges with our solutions. All our specialists—from developers, testers, and production staff to product owners and sales/KAMs—assist both end customers and our distributors with any questions or issues.

Service

If your instrument is not performing as expected and the guidance provided through support does not resolve the issue, we will bring the instrument in for service and repair it. All our instruments are covered by a three-year warranty.

Calibration

We operate Norway’s only accredited calibration laboratory. Here, we perform both accredited and standard calibration on all instruments before delivery. Most customers also choose to return their instruments for recalibration after several years of use.

First order to British Aircraft Corporation - Anglo-French supersonic Concorde project.

Nor811 - An instrument capable of measuring the reverberation time automatically.

Nor823 - A Portable 2 channel building acoustic analyser.

Nor830 - A Portable 2-channel real time analyser.

Nor216 - Sound intensity probe based on ultrasound-detection of the sound particle velocity (p-u probe).

Nor110 - Hand-held sound analyser that combined several fields of use in separate modes.

Microphone socket standard using 7-pins LEMO.

Nor1251 - First type 1 acoustical calibrator.

Nor840 - Real time analyser with a built-in PC.

Nor117 - Vehicle noise meter for acoustical detection of RPM.

Nor118 - Handheld real time analyser with 120 dB dynamic range (filters also), thereby no longer any need to change measuring range.

Nor1516 - Two channel ”wireless” building acoustic system.

Swept Sine technique for building acoustics within the Nor121 Analyser.

Nor140 - First true handheld instrument with audio recording.

Nor848 - Acoustic Camera with semi-conductor microphones and real time online listening feature.

Nor150 - First handheld sound level meter with 4,3” capacitive touch screen and 2 measurement channels.

2018

Nor145 – First handheld instrument with LTE modem for seamless connection to cloud.

2019

Nor1297 Noise Compass - Noise monitoring with direction. The three-dimensional noise compass significantly reduces time spent on judging if a noise source should be a part of the overall noise calculation or not, simply by defining which direction the noise is coming from.

2020

NorCloud - Environmental noise monitoring system. NorCloud provides real-time data visualisation, alarm and trigger management, continuous data storage, and remote access to all measurements from any device via a standard web browser, with no need to install additional software.

2022

Nor282 - Battery operated power amplifier with WiFi – no signal cable needed!

2024

Nor283 - Dodecahedron loudspeaker, a small, lightweighted, yet powerful and rugged dodecahedron loudspeaker designed for the most demanding field and laboratory applications.

2025

NorCal - A new calibration software for Sound Level Meters, Microphones, and Calibrators.

NoiseTag - AI-based source classification inside NorCloud. NoiseTag identifies which events are relevant to the activity being studied and which are not. Irrelevant noise (sounds that are not part of the activity) can therefore be excluded from the analysis.

Noise pollution is affecting a large part of the world’s population. Norsonic products help our customer to design quieter products with a more optimized material use.

Our developers have strict guidelines to develop products that can be produced in an environmentally friendly way, with the lowest possible carbon footprint as possible. All products follow the latest RoHs requirements.

Our main subcontractors are situated in Scandinavia to minimize the impact of long-distance transportation. An important prerequisite when selecting a subcontractor is the company’s environmental profile and distance from our factory to minimize the carbon footprint.

We have a certified waste management system and a free recycling policy in accordance with ISO14001 of discarded Norsonic products.

A part of our environmental policy is to make products that last longer than what is average for our industry. A Norsonic instrument is often in service for 15 to 20 years thanks to our software update philosophy and rugged design.
