Nor282
Power amplifier
The Nor282 power amplifier is engineered to deliver maximum sound pressure levels from the Norsonic loudspeaker range with reliable, repeatable performance.
By combining signal transmission and power in a single connection, it removes the need for separate signal and mains cabling, and it includes an integrated graphical equalizer for precise adjustment.
The large colour display and graphical EQ make it straightforward to adapt the loudspeaker frequency response to the room, helping you meet the requirements for the difference between adjacent 1/3‑octave bands in accordance with ISO 10140‑5 and ISO 16283‑1.

Battery-powered amplifier
The Nor282 integrated power amplifier is engineered to deliver a high, stable sound pressure level from the Norsonic loudspeaker range, even in demanding measurement scenarios. The built-in battery supports up to 90 minutes of continuous operation at full output, with smooth, interruption-free changeover between mains and battery supply. When connected to mains power, the internal batteries are charged automatically to keep the system ready for the next test.
WiFi – no signal cable required
Nor282 connects either via an existing WiFi network or as its own secure access point. Access point mode is ideal for field use, providing a direct 1:1 wireless link to a Nor145, Nor150, or Nor850 system. From the instrument or Nor850 software, you can remotely configure and control the amplifier’s signal generator, equalizer, and output level, enabling efficient, precise on-site setup and adjustment.
Remote hand-switch
A wireless remote hand-switch is supplied as standard, allowing the operator to switch the noise signal on and off without needing direct access to the amplifier—supporting safer, more efficient test workflows.
Graphical equalizer for building acoustics measurements
The Nor282 power amplifier features a large colour display with an integrated graphical equalizer, making it straightforward to adapt the loudspeaker’s frequency response to the actual room conditions. This helps you meet the specified differences between adjacent 1/3‑octave bands in accordance with ISO 10140‑5 and ISO 16283‑1.
A predefined spectrum adaptation is available for the Norsonic speaker range and can be fine‑tuned to optimise the spectrum for the room. In addition, three user‑defined spectra can be configured and stored to support repeatable test setups.
A low‑pass and high‑pass filter are included to suppress frequency content outside the relevant range for building acoustics measurements. This reduces unnecessary cone excursion at very low frequencies, protects the loudspeaker from operating outside its design limits, and prevents wasted acoustic energy. For specialised applications, all filters can be disabled to provide full control of the signal bandwidth.
The output signal, including the applied equalisation, is shown in real time on the colour display. A separate bar graph above the spectrum provides a clear indication of the overall noise level, enabling quick visual verification during setup and measurement.
Built‑in noise types for acoustic measurements
The built‑in signal generator provides White, Pink and Brown noise, 1/3‑ and 1/1‑octave band‑pass filtered noise, sine wave and STIPA, covering a wide range of building and room acoustics test methods. Swept sine is available when the Nor282 is operated together with a Nor850 system. When required, an external signal source can be connected to the signal input, while the internal generator signals are simultaneously available on the BNC output for use with additional equipment in larger or multi‑channel test configurations.
Other useful features for reliable operation
The output attenuator can be adjusted continuously between 0 and –70 dB. To prevent accidental level changes, the attenuator is implemented as a robust rotary switch with clearly defined steps. The step size can be user‑selected to 1, 3, 5, 6 or 10 dB for precise and repeatable level setting aligned with laboratory procedures.
For dependable operation in demanding environments, the Nor282 incorporates comprehensive protection against defective or short‑circuited speakers and cables, overvoltage, and over‑temperature conditions. A built‑in two‑speed fan automatically switches off when the output signal is turned off, removing any risk of airflow noise during reverberation time measurements and other low‑level acoustic tests.
